Sunday 23rd September will be remembered as the day the group first came together, meeting trip leaders from Inspire and completing team orientated tasks.
Visiting tropical regions requires considerable understanding and adjustment on the part of the traveller and our training day was a combination of learning about the Ugandan culture, being introduced to the different projects being run by the Bujagali Trust in Jinja and understanding the different demands and necessities of working and living in different climatic conditions.
Geri and Ellen, the Inspire staff leading our trip, took us through a number of team building exercises and there is no doubt that Team Uganda beat the Malawi and Tanzania groups attempts at building an armchair out of balloons!
The challenge was not complete until one of the group was able to sit on the balloon chair with their feet off the ground, a task that Finty managed without any trouble at all!
With just a few weeks to go before departure the whole day was a useful exercise in focusing the minds of the group on the challenges ahead.
There is great anticipation in our team and, as we near the end of courses of injections and begin to consider the finer details of what needs to be packed, Uganda is on the horizon!
